Plot watcher camera system
Jun 26, 2011 The software doesn't have anything to do with how the camera works. However, the firmware is really important to keep up-to-date. If your video says, 'PlotWatcher v1.2' at the bottom, you have the most recent firmware. By the way, I'm a partner at Day 6 and saw your post thru a Google alert. Hope this helps.

I have been contemplating a plot watcher time elapse camera. Anybody have any real world experiences using one of them ? The idea seems very sound. Is the software figured out and user friendly ?

I have a plotwatcher and I like the way it performs. The unit and software are easy.It performs well and actually used it his past week in Alabama deer hunting.Found a few deer that were not nocturnal with it.Also the company(people/customer service) were very friendly and willing to talk through any questions I had about the unit.I think its worthwhile

Plot Watcher Software For Mac Free

Do they have a solar external battery option where you wouldn't have to change the batteries all the time? Looks like a neat piece of equipment but I agree the battery life is a huge issue.

If you read thier info it says 4 AA batteries. Customize hours of operation. If you run all daylight hours you'll get over nine days worth of video before changing batteries. If you cut out midday it'll stretch for over two weeks.

I have several now and they all last at least a week.I have been using them over a month now and love them. The mid day skip will lengthen the bat. life. One unit I have not changed batteries for awhile. But the play back is cool.Like mentioned earlier I placed at good vantage point and got deer moving during the middle of the day etc.Play back is 5 or 10 mins. for whole day. They are improving on program and bat. life.

My brother and I each purchased one and we will be putting them out this weekend. These cameras are daytime only systems. These cameras are not a replacement for conventional trail cameras(as I see it) but an additional tool for watching large open areas. I`ll know more in a few weeks.

One of my hunting partners bought one this year - it worked great. As stated above, it will run about a week on the AA batteries depending on temps (until winter - the AAs don't stand up to cold weather). It has a VERY wide angle lens so you can set it up to watch an edge etc.. from a distance and see where everything is coming from. It has some zoom, but if you are using it to watch a plot edge or something you are far enough away that you cannot zoom in enough to make out a ton of detail. If you set up close to one trail, then its zoom would be better, but you could probaby do that with a trail camera.

You can actually buy the same camera for a lot less money. It's called a Brinno gardencam. Here http://www.amazon.com/Brinno-GardenWatchCam-Flash-Drive-GWCTLC130A/dp/B001M0NBMQ
